Roopesh Acharya

Sri Roopesh Acharya hails from Mangalore, Karnataka. He studied shivagama tantram Pravara Praveena at Kunjibettu Sharada Temple situated at Udupi, a branch of Sri Shankaracharya Samsthana From 2006 studied Shastras and Vedas for 9 years at Pejawara Mutt, Udupi and Studied Sanskrit Literature along with Jothisya Shasthra as a part of Vedanga at Sri S.M S. P Sanskrit research Center. He has an MA in Sanskrit from Karnataka Sanskrit University and is awarded the title “Vidwan”. He has worked as a priest in Pejawar Matha performing Yaga and Poojas. He has participated in Kumbhabhisheka and other rituals in various temples in India as well as abroad for example Myanmar, Dubai and Malaysia. He is fluent in English, Sanskrit, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Tulu, Telugu and understands Malayalam, Konkani and Marathi. He worked in SSVT for 8 years since December 2014 to 2021.

Roopeshji has been SSVT Balavidyalayam Acharya since 2016 – over the years he has taught numerous students ranging in age from 4 years to adults. His warm & nurturing approach to teaching infuses a love for learning in his young students – he has taught even difficult stotrams such as Sri Kanakadara Stotram to 6 year old students. Roopeshji’s style of teaching is patient, light hearted & supportive when helping students pronounce challenging words in Sanskrit. Over the years, Roopeshji has helped develop a rich repertoire of stotras that cover multiple devatas, sampradayas and authors – student families love his easy-going nature that invites warm relationships that extend beyond the Balavidyalayam classroom. Roopeshji’s voice and diction as he recites shlokas are a tremendous inspiration for all who hear him!

Sri Roopesh Acharya reached Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple Maryland America in 2014. He worked as vedic priest, Religious Advisor and as Shloka teacher at Bala Vidyalaya nurturing childrens with religious knowledge from 2014 to 2021. In 2016, he established Bala Vidyalaya Education Center and for the first time at the capital of America – Washington DC, he well-established and involved himself in establishment, substitution and pooja’s of Georgetown University Dharmalaya Temple USA.

He shared his religious knowledge on pooja’s for all language communities – Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Tulu, Sanskrit and from 10 years he is working on clarifying the doubts that arise in people related to north/south indian traditions, different forms of poojas or any astrology related matters.
